Choose two of the following websites and identify at least three potential problems for visitors. What could be improved on this website and why? Choose two and identify what they have done right. How does design, aesthetics and branding impact your reaction to the websites?
Two BAD:
http://tectorch.com
This website is flat, dull, boring, and really, too congested.I
It lacks 'pop'.
specifically it does not have an immediate impact, neither by branding, Logo recognition, nor text appeal.
The Company History needs to be on a subsidiary page, and not on the front main page.
Same thing for the Welders feedback.
http://www.swagelok.com/
This site is alot better, but still needs a few things done:
This site is much more 'flashy', with the animated gif's, which is great.
However I would move the quick links to the left side, up near the top.
I would also make the Items by Filter a page of its own.
Otherwise I like this page
Two GOOD:
http://apple.com
Talk about Big Pimping! Product recognition by Company Logo, Brand identification, Product, are all working in Apple favor.
The first thing that pops up on this site, is simply the Logo, the Name of the most recent producvt, and an image of the product.
Above is a ribbon of links: Store, Mac, Ipod, IPhone, IPad, ITunes and Support.
I like the fact that second, right up after the apple logo, is the Store. So they get right into selling right away.
This site has a very easy feel to it. It makes you want to buy this expensive piece of technology.
and isn't that what the internet is all about?
I find nothing wrong with this site.
http://www.ford.com/
This website is also excellent. it does a great job of product placement. the Logo branding is evident but is not the main point. the Point of this is to sell the new products.
Only after you work your way through the ribbon, do you get to the 'Shopping Tools'.
So product branding is what is working here.
great site.

Have you ever experienced difficulty communicating with a business? Would social media have made it easier to get noticed or get your problem solved? If not, have you ever had a positive experience communicating with a business through social media?
Have you ever experienced difficulty communicating with a business?
Hell Yeah! I've had great difficulties chatting with a business about a problem I had with them, their product, services, and attitude.
Who was this business you ask? Well it was WESTERN UNION! the money order department to be specific. Here is how it all started....
I purchased a money order, the same money order, amount, from the same liquor store, that I had been buying money orders from, for over 15 years. ( why so long? That's another post) I purchased the M.O. and sent it to the same bill as alway. They never got it.
No worries as I still had the receipt, and the other part of the money order that proves I purchased it.
They never got it.
That's when my ordeal began.
I went to the store with the receipt and M.O. stub. The guy there gave me a phone number to Western Union. I called them and they said to print out from their site, a form, fill it out, with a copy of the receipt and M.O. stub. I did that and sent it certified return receipt mail.
They never got it.
Then I resent both by mail, and by email attachment to the supervisor I contacted by phone, when I realized they did not send me my money and was saying they never got the papers.
Would social media have made it easier to get noticed or get your problem solved?
I wish I had social media back then! I would have punked them all over the web!
Instead I took them to small claims court. That woke their asses up!
The day before the court day, Western Union hand delivered by a Western Union Corporate Office Worker, tracked me down and handed me my money!
What about compensating me for all my aggravation, time, effort, and money spent, beyond my M.O. amount???
I'd like to sue their asses off again!

Intro post to my first blog
WOW, my first post!
I kinda expected a little bit more. Something like like Bill Gates surprising me at my door, with a gold plated mouse pad or something. Or maybe that curly haired Rukenburg fella, the one who built this Google contraption, dropping by to personally give me a pointer or few. Hell, I'd even settle for the sinking feeling I get when those native American Inidans at their casinos, seperate me from my money, and leave me with a ppocket full of bells, flashing lights, whitles, sirens, and pulsating chairs.
None of that.
I want more....
